Fenwick Rod History and General Information
Fenwick is a Fishing Rod manufacturer that dates back to 1952. In the beginning the company was no more than a few friends constructing rods made of fiberglass in a double garage near their home on Lake Fenwick. However, in 1967 a man by the name of Phil Clock bought the company and soon began making some major changes. The first change included moving the company from Lake Fenwick to his home in Westminster. Next Clock, who was a great leader and marketer, decided to design a rod geared strictly toward bass fisherman. The Lunkerstick was the result. This rod turned heads and made all other rod manufacturers take notice. The company quickly developed a sterling reputation among bass fisherman as it already had among fly rod, spinning and saltwater anglers.
Graphite hit the market in 1973 and quickly gained the attention of rod designers everywhere. This material was stronger, lighter, and stiffer than fiberglass. Fenwick quickly took notice and became the first company to manufacture an all graphite fishing rod, the HMG, or High Modulus Graphite rod. This rod had all the necessary components of what a great fishing rod should be and fisherman everywhere were eager to give it a try.
As if developing the first all graphite rod wasn’t enough, Clock and his team then started designing rods for certain fishing techniques as well, such as the flippin stick. This rod alone created an all together new way of Bass Fishing which nobody had ever seen. Bass anglers from all over were anxious to get their hands on this new rod type. They continued developing technique specific rods for crankbaiting, jigging, soft plastic fishing, and many other methods.
Today Fenwick continues their craft designing high quality rods at an affordable price. All rods are sensitive, lightweight, flexible, and come with a strong backbone. They have a wide variety of makes and models ranging anywhere from fly to salt water rods. All models also come in a variety of weights and lengths as well. Fenwick rods provide great craftsmanship, elegance, and above all solid performance. These rods are a great choice from the recreational angler looking to catch his first fish to the tournament pro gunning for a big win. Whether your fishing for small brooke trout in a nearby creek, or hauling in big largemouths at Lake Michigan, Fenwick is sure to have just the rod your looking for.
