What is the best fishing string i can use for fresh water?
i just bought some cheap fishing poles and i want to put a little better string in it i use to use spider wire but i have not been fishing in years i did go on easter and i did catch a keeper that i did get it to the bank and it snapped the line
On you’re rods it should say what lb line is ok to use on the rod, stick within those limits. If it says 6-10 lb line for example then i would spool up with 8 lb test. I use Gamma Copolymer line, and it works excellent. Its a stronger mono line, its a little thicker then regular mono, buts it limper, stronger, and doesn’t have the high memory of regular mono. I spooled my rod/reel with 10 lb test gamma which will actually break at 17.5 lbs, and it has pretty good abrasion resistance. I horsed in a 4 lb large mouth yesterday who was fighting like crazy and i didn’t have a problem, he even ran my line right across a concrete pier piling, and when i checked my line it barley had a nick in it. The only problem with this line is that i can only find it at cabelas, and had to order it online and with shipping and handling the charge was about 19 bucks, If you can afford it, i highly recommend Gamma Copolymer.
